Main part of this day was a slow drive along the shore of Lake Wakatipu. We'd seen the first part on our prior visit to New Zealand, but had never seen what lay around the bend where the lake turns north. Here we go.

Then we came around a bend and found Mt. Earnslaw. Not the biggest mountain around the head of the lake, but it sort of grabs your attention.

We took a very pleasant 3km walk around a lake.

It is known for reflections but was a little ripply today. Not that we are complaining!

Returning back down the lake toward Queenstown we got a look at the range called The Remarkables.

Then we headed east and north into the center of the South Island, and through country that looks a lot more like the American West.

Now we are camped in Omarama which is a road junction well positioned for reaching Aoraki (a.k.a. Mt. Cook) national park tomorrow. P.S. there are a few additional pictures to be seen in the slide show.
